Stop the Diet Struggle and Take Healthy Eating in a Fresh, Fun Direction for you and your Family.
Do you ever wonder why people in many other countries actually enjoy food traditions as important parts of their cultures, yet don’t spend their lives battling against obesity and chronic lifestyle diseases?
Families are in kitchens all over the world laughing, bonding, improvising and expressing themselves with meal preparation, while so many of us are busy moralizing, rationing, labeling, measuring, demonizing and stressing out over the very substances that are supposed to nourish and sustain our bodies, minds and spirits.
Big Food and the Weight Loss Industrial Complex took advantage of our increasingly harried and hectic lifestyles, ran with the obesity scare over the decades and snatched all the joy out of eating and entertaining our families and friends with food. Traditions were nearly lost. But we have the power to change all of that. It may not be appropriate to completely go back old skool (i.e. overly-rich soul food of the past) yet we’re not about taking those favorite dishes and throwing kale at them, either.
You already know what healthy eating means, but need inspiration and skills to cook delicious meals at home from scratch, despite your busy lifestyle in a way that reclaims tradition and brings together your family and friends.
No more being left out of the cookout, or relegated to bringing the napkins and foil. Take the drudgery out of the kitchen and bring in the joy and laughter. Don’t worry about recipes, learn to cook more on the fly. Pair up simple ingredients to make amazing dishes. Lose weight as a side effect, not an obsession. Change your mindset around healthy eating. Here’s how this looks:
- No food rules
- No more guilt or shame around food
- No counting calories
- No nasty-ass or fake-ass food
- No supplements
- No meal plans
- No Sunday cooking binges for stale leftovers the whole week
- No social isolation
- No piety, finger wagging or judging (friendly joning ok)
- No gimmicks

I’m a certified food and lifestyle coach, trained home chef and diabetes prevention educator. I’m also a mom and wife, graduate of Howard University School of Law, professional bellydancer, and certified tantrika.
My general philosophy is we should live the highest quality of life on our own terms above all else.
I have always been a food lover and also interested in different cultures. My favorite cuisines are North African and Caribbean and my general style of eating is Mediterranean. I love to integrate these qualities, spices and seasonings into my everyday cooking because they enhance fresh whole foods and make them so naturally flavor rich without all the healthy food hype and unsavory piety.
I love food adventures and I’m also a nutrition geek and I love to entertain in my kitchen. It wasn’t always the case though. This all began a few years ago when we remodeled our small, janky galley kitchen. I came up with this dream design so that I could truly make cooking more fun, and that I did! But you don’t need to do a dramatic makeover to make your kitchen a soul-nourishing source of joy and happiness as well.
You can start your healthy eating lifestyle transformation and bring the tradition, love, culture and fun back into your kitchen right now!
