Stop the Diet Struggle and Take Healthy Eating into a Fresh, Fun Direction for you and your Family.
I’m Lisa Branscomb, certified food and lifestyle coach, foodie and trained home chef, here to help you GET YOUR LIFE!
How come people in many other countries enjoy food traditions as important parts of their cultures, yet don’t spend their lives battling against obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, arteriosclerosis and heart disease?
Families are in kitchens all over the world laughing, bonding, goofing off and expressing themselves with meal preparation, while we over here busy moralizing, rationing, labeling, measuring, demonizing and stressing out over the very substances that are supposed to nourish and sustain our bodies, minds and spirits.
Big Food and the Weight Loss Industrial Complex took advantage of our increasingly harried and hectic lifestyles, ran with the obesity scare over the decades and snatched all the joy out of eating and entertaining our families and friends with food. Our cultural traditions around food were nearly lost. But we have the power to change all of that. It may not be appropriate to completely go back old skool, you know–overly-rich soul food of the past, yet we’re not here for taking those favorite dishes and throwing some raw vegan gluten-free kale at them, either.
I’m sure you already know what healthy eating means, but you need inspiration and skills to bring the culture, tradition, fun and flavor back into your kitchen so you can enjoy food again.
No more being left out of the cookout, or relegated to bringing the napkins and foil. Take the drudgery out of the kitchen and bring in the joy and laughter. Don’t worry about recipes, you’ll learn to cook more on the fly. You’ll pair up simple ingredients to make amazing dishes. You’ll lose weight as a side effect, not an obsession. All because you changed your mindset around healthy eating. Here’s how this looks:
- No food rules
- No more guilt or shame around food
- No counting calories
- No nasty-ass or fake-ass food
- No supplements
- No meal plans
- No Sunday cooking binges for stale leftovers the whole week
- No social isolation
- No piety, finger wagging or judging (friendly joning ok)
- No gimmicks

I’m a food and lifestyle coach, trained home chef and CDC certified diabetes prevention educator. I’m also a mom and wife, graduate of Howard University School of Law, professional bellydancer, and certified tantrika.
My general philosophy is we should live the highest quality of life on our own terms above all else.
I have always been a food lover and also interested in different cultures. My favorite cuisines are North African and Caribbean and my general style of eating is Mediterranean. I love to integrate these qualities, spices and seasonings into my everyday cooking because they enhance fresh whole foods and make them naturally flavor rich with none of the healthy food drama.
I always cringe when people start telling me about some diet rules with “waayell, they say…” I want to know who in the hell is “They”, and why do “They” have any valid authority over my life? No thanks, I prefer straight science, and not the kind that’s analyzed by people who don’t know or understand what they’re talking about. I love digging deep into studies and using solid logic to interpret the outcomes for myself (so you don’t have to).
I love food adventures and I’m also a nutrition geek and I love to entertain and throw down in my kitchen. It wasn’t always the case though. This all began a few years ago when we remodeled our small, janky galley kitchen. I came up with this dream design so that I could truly make cooking more fun, and that I did! Check out the white stereo speakers on the pendant light track in the after pics, so we can dance and carry on while we cook!
But you don’t need to do a dramatic makeover to make your kitchen a soul-nourishing source of joy and happiness as well. You just need to relax and get your mind right. Let me help.
